History of the Candy Cane

The candy can has always been a highlight of Christmas, but, do you actually know what it means? Well I’ll tell you. In India a Christian candy maker wanted to make something new but reminded people of our Lord and savior. Thus, the candy cane was born. Its shape can either be portrayed as a Shepard’s staff or a “j” for Jesus. Its white stand for the purity of out Lord, the think red stripes stand for the blood that cleanses our sins, the thin strips stand for the humility and whippings he took before the crucifixion. The green stripes are a reminder that Jesus made things new and that he was a gift from god. Now, your wondering why peppermint…Well in the biblical days, peppermint was what they burned along with the sacrifices they gave to God to make them “clean”
